ST. THOMAS – The Department of Public Works (DPW) is updating the community on the progress of road work on Mafolie Hill. Last week, the department reported that trenching would be completed by March 24. BLDM is currently experiencing a delay, as such, work has been extended to Saturday, March 27, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Until then, a single-lane closure will be in effect from Mafolie Hotel to Pilgrms Terrace.
Asphalt restoration from Louisenhoj Castle down to Pilgrims Terrace is scheduled for early April. If possible, the department recommends using alternate traffic routes to avoid this area during the times designated for road work. Please exercise extreme caution if you must use this route during the designated times.
The department understands the community’s concerns and the inconveniences caused by this project. DPW continues to meet with the contractor to ensure the road work is completed expeditiously and roadways are restored fully.
