U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – The Department of Public Works (DPW) is updating the community on the status of BLDM’s Fiber Optic Installation project. Due to the procurement of construction materials and coordination with local contractors, the completion date has been pushed back to October 14, 2021.
This extension will allow BLDM to complete the following activities: excavation on Crown Mountain Road, full lane asphalt restoration on the Waterfront, Tutu Park and Norre Gade, thermoplastic line restoration, and traffic box installations on St. Croix.
Major construction activities on all three islands are completed. This project is expected to improve capacity, reliability, resiliency and increase performance of the existing communication network.
The department appreciates the community’s patience as they work to improve road conditions in the territory.
