ST. THOMAS – Department of Public Works (DPW) employees worked into the night on Wednesday to address deteriorating road conditions on St. Thomas. The steady downpour of rain triggered flash floods and poor driving conditions throughout the island. Crews worked until midnight and were back at it at 6 a.m. on Thursday clearing boulders and other debris from the roadways, to ensure safe passage for motorists.
“In any storm event, the safety of our employees is paramount,” said Commissioner Nelson Petty Jr., P.E. “I am grateful for their devotion to safeguarding the wellbeing of our community.”
DPW stands ready for the current hurricane season and encourages citizens to remain vigilant throughout this time.
