ST. CROIX – The Department of Public Works would like to inform the motoring public that the Melvin Evans Highway (Route 66) from East Airport Intersection (Route 64) to the Clifton Hill Intersection (Route 75) will be under construction until February 8.
Virgin Islands Paving, Inc. was awarded the contract to perform pavement rehabilitation and safety improvements. This includes milling, road and shoulder paving, reconditioning, safety barrier replacement, as well as, striping.
As some sections of the roadway will be closed to traffic, the traveling public is urged to avoid the area while construction is in progress. Motorists who must use the roadway are asked to reduce their speed, pay attention to the posted construction signs and follow traffic control directions. Alternate routes include: Queen Mary Highway (Route 70), East Airport Road (Route 64) and Clifton Hill Road (Route 75).
For more information on all current road projects, follow DPW on Facebook @usvidpw or log on to the department’s website.
