Burial Permit

Overview

The Department of Public Works should be your first stop when planning a funeral in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The department is responsible for burial customer service, gravesite preparations for scheduled funerals, as well as maintenance of public cemeteries throughout the territory.

A burial plot permit application, which is processed by DPW, must be approved before any final decisions are made with your church and/or funeral home. Burials are performed every day of the week, but there is an additional cost for weekends and holidays.

DPW Cemetery Office Hours:

Monday - Friday
7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For more information on burials, please contact the department.
