WORK TO RESUME THIS WEEK ON THE MORAVIAN HIGHWAY
ST. THOMAS – The road project that is currently underway on Moravian Highway is scheduled to resume onThursday, December 13. Work came to a pause about two weeks ago due to a lack of asphalt availability on island. The only asphalt plant located on St. Thomas required servicing, so it caused a delay in work activities.
Now that the project is continuing, road and lane closures will be necessary. The construction will start at the intersection of Route 30 - Moravian Highway and Route 33 - Crown Mountain Road. It will continue down to the intersection of Route 30 - Moravian Highway and Gasvaerks Gade (located adjacent to the Emile Griffith Ball Park). Road and lane closures will be periodic along the construction limits.
This project calls for road reconstruction, road rehabilitation, the installation of traffic video detection systems, as well as median landscaping within the construction zone. During work hours, a traffic plan will be implemented to redirect motorists and pedestrians around the construction limits. The motoring public is advised to adhere to all traffic devices, signs, and required speed limits.
