This road work is part of a larger plan where the department is addressing small and large areas of concern throughout the territory. Other areas scheduled to be addressed this year are Scott Free Road and Hospital Ground on St. Thomas, Estate Strawberry and La Grange on St. Croix, as well as Fish Fry Road and Centerline guardrails on St. John.

The Department of Public Works (DPW) is updating the community on the progress of the Fort Christian Parking Lot Renovations Project on St. Thomas.

All vehicles must be removed by noon on Monday, May 19, to allow for the resumption of construction on the parking lot. While paving is completed, there is more work remaining on this project. DPW contractor — Grace Civil LLC. — still has to inspect the new water lines; install bollards and wheel stoppers; and complete the ADA ramp. This project also includes striping, lot numbering, and software updates to the ticket machines and entry/exit terminals.

To minimize the impact on motorists, DPW has coordinated with the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) and the Virgin Islands Port Authority (VIPA) to provide alternate parking on the Veterans Drive waterfront apron for the project’s duration. The Department of Public Works appreciates the community’s patience as they work to improve road conditions throughout the territory.

Speaking of street sweepers, can we be more active in sweeping the roads after heavy rains? All the gravel, pebbles, nails, dirt are hazardous. One year I picked up three separate nails on three separate occasions.

Is DPW responsible for creating more sidewalks in the territory? If so, why is this not being done? They are desperately needed.

LACK OF LANE STRIPING IS A MAJOR CONCERN ..ITS A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER TO THE MOTORING PUBLIC

what island is this on?

Would like someone at DPW to speak to the traffic hazard located in the east bound lane in front of the Lucinda Millin home.

Thank you for hosting this open house. Hoping it will occur more often.

What is the status of addressing the sorely needed reflective striping and street lights on Raphune Hill?

Please use some of your millions to fix LA Grange road on St Croix. It's been bad before and now with the latest recent rains it's now HORRIBLE

Traffic lights timing needs adjustment on the waterfront. It is creating unnecessary traffic.

Incorrect. These trees have grown up on their own and were not planted by anyone but seeds that were dropped by pedestrians or flew in.

Why are Mahogany and mango trees being allowed to grow into large trees in the median In Havensight?

Can you guys time the lights by the fort so traffic will better heading east through town?

What about the road striping….roads getting paved should be striped soon after

What is the procurement process for recycled asphalt for private driveways and roads?

When are you going to clean the guts on St. Croix?
