USVI Transit Connect is a Comprehensive Planning Transit Study that will make recommendations to improve VITRAN bus, ferry, and paratransit services and its facilities, and potentially new services such as microtransit. The goal is to better align services with rider needs, improve overall mobility and provide opportunities to increase access to jobs and services. USVI Transit Connect will also consider traffic signal improvements.
The study team will take stock of existing transit services across the islands — including buses, ferries, and paratransit — and compare them against where people actually need to go. This will reveal gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities to better match service with community needs.
Improvement Alternatives & Scenarios:
Drawing on community input and technical analysis, the study team will develop a range of potential improvements to transit service (from adjusted schedules and new routes to technology upgrades and better ferry connections) and package them into scenarios that represent different visions for the future of transit in the USVI. These scenarios will be shared with the public and stakeholders to help guide which changes should move forward.
Recommendations:
Using the public’s feedback, the scenarios and alternatives will be adjusted and narrowed down to a single final set of recommendations that fits within expected funding levels, providing a roadmap of achievable studies to improve transit service across the islands.

How to Get Involved
We want to know what you think! There are multiple ways to learn more about this study and tell us what would most improve your transit experience in USVI.
Respond to our survey:
This first survey asks general questions about your needs and priorities for USVI transit that will guide the next stages of the project.
We will also be holding public events across the Islands to share more details and hear from you directly. Upcoming events will be posted here when scheduled!
